I love reds. How do I incorporate the colour without looking gaudy? Is an all-red ensemble a good idea? — Esha Menon

When in doubt, wear red. But it is important to know which shade of red suits you the best. A bustier will provide support and give you that additional bit of comfort. Wear a shrug on top of the bustier or on top of a tube top to add a touch of style to your outfit. Off-shoulder tops are also a good option. They’re extremely trendy. Avoid wearing a heavily padded bustier. Corsets are also in fashion and they give shape to your body.

The best outfit a person can wear is confidence. Jumpsuits are a good choice for a plus-size person. You can try off-shoulder ones, and also ones that are fitted on top with flared bottoms. Avoid wearing flats or footwear without heels with jumpsuits.

I am small-built and petite. I am conscious of my height. What kind of wardrobe essentials should I invest in? — Parineeta

Wear fitted jeans with a distinct flare at the bottom create the illusion of a longer leg, especially when the hem hits the top of your shoes. Vertical stripes create long lines, making you look, well, longer. Tops with plunging ‘v’ necklines give the illusion of a longer, leaner torso. Go for a layered maxi dress or top this season.
