When summer is getting hotter with each passing day, the desire to wear an outfit that matches the playfulness of the season comes naturally. Amongst all, it’s the kurtas that reign the summer fashion scene because of their elegance and sophistication. Comfortable as they are, kurtas are must-haves in every woman’s wardrobe as these can be styled and restyled depending on the mood of the day, fashion trend, and desire of the heart. A plain kurta on ripped jeans is perfect for your bold and beautiful mood, while a straight kurta on flared palazzos is for the elegant and playful spirits. There are numerous ways to style your kurtas. Following are a few tips to style this ethnic staple into sublime charms:

Culottes over salwars

Culotte pants look super stylish when paired up with tunic kurtis. Go for a pastel hue culotte pant with a monochromatic kurti and glam it up with tassel and metal dangler earrings. Mind the length of the kurti — it should not be longer than your thighs, if you want that classy look. If you’re wearing it to work, then add a dash of instant glamour with black or grey stilettos.

Anarkali kurta, the casual way

Dumping an outdated anarkali designer kurta is too much of a pain because it’s expensive and usually less worn. No worries, because you can make a style statement with the same kurta again if you style it with a bit of sass. Replace its matching salwar or pajama with lightly embroidered cigarette pants and do away with your dupatta.

A short or a longline ethnic jacket to cover the heavy stonework to give it a casual look will turn out to be ideal daily wear, else a denim jacket would do the job. If cigarette pants are not your thing, then go for faded denim or boyfriend jeans and pair it up with pointed heel shoes or block heel sandals.

Fancy floor-length kurtas

Regular printed floor-length kurtas have become a casual fashion trend nowadays. A simple angarkha dress can be turned into enticing festive wear with gaudy dupattas like a bandhani chiffon or silk dupatta embellished with gota and zari work. Also, an ankle-length kurta makes for a perfect gown dress with pom-pom flip-flops at supper. Floral a-line kurtas can be carried off as a mini dress with leather belts and sneaker shoes to get that sporty chic look.

Blouses over kurtas

Get trendy and put on boho chic blouses over solid colour a-line kurtas. It would even make for a perfect dress if the blouse has layered bell-sleeves. To get that British countryside girl look with your same old straight slit kurta, team up ripped shorts with high cowgirl boots.

Silk to accentuate the aura

Multi-layered tie-dyed bandhani silk suits are making heads turn everywhere. Wear a Banarasi silk kurta with a contrasting ghaghra, dhoti pant, churidar pajama or sharara for an edgy look. Swap your dupatta for a silk scarf that makes the entire outfit stand out. Opt for contemporary accessories and traditional juttis to complete the stunning look.
