The fire engulfed about 100 acres in Kodappa Mand in North Division of Doddabetta range, destroying 10 thatched and tiled houses but no casualty was reported, forest department sources said.
Meanwhile, fire was noticed in about 150 acres in Mudumalai sanctuary and forest areas behind Hindustan Photo Films, they said.
Forest department and fire force personnel were taking steps to extinguish the fire, but they were facing difficulty to reach the spot, they said.
A majority of the animals were found migrating from the area to nearby Bandipur forest range in Karnataka, the sources said.
