Three-time Olympian Matthew Gray, an officer with the New South Wales water police, will lead Australia's archery challenge in the Oct 3-14 Games. Archery as a sport will be showcased only for the second time in the history of Commonwealth Games.
Australian head coach Simon Fairweather is confident of his team's good show in Delhi.
"Australian archers have faced an intensive year of camps, trials and overseas competition in order to be selected for the Games. The members of the squad have shot over 100 matches in preparation for the Games. This is far more match practice than any previous Australian team has ever done prior to an event. I am confident the team will perform good there," said Fairweather in a statement released by the Australian Commonwealth Games Federation.
The archery event of the Commonwealth Games will take place Oct 4-10 at the Yamuna Sports Complex.
