The Bengaluru FC reserve side made a late surge to avoid a scare and settle for 2-2 draw against a gritty Rail Wheel Factory (RWF) in the BDFA Super Division football League at the Bangalore Football Stadium here on Wednesday.
RWF led by a goal until the 86th minute when Bengaluru forward Sourav TP slotted home the equaliser, his second of the game, from a well-directed free-kick from the edge of the penalty area.
Bengaluru started the game brightly and almost went ahead in the 11th minute when Ajay Chettri rattled the RWF post with a fierce free-kick from 30 yards.
Their dominance soon yielded results as Sourav found himself in plenty of space to place the ball past the helpless RWF goalkeeper Krishna after a mix-up from defenders inside the box in the dying minutes of the opening half.
Bengaluru resumed strongly after the break, but were made to pay for their defensive lapses as RWF drew level through a penalty in the 69th minute.
It was Jestin George who fouled Mithun inside the box leaving the referee with no option but to point to spot.
And Jayavandhan made no mistake as he stepped up to smash a powerful shot past Jafar Mondai in the Bengaluru goal.
Two minutes later, RWF scored again through Madan Kumar, who rose above his marker to head in a Jayavandhan corner.
In the ‘A’ Division, Jawahar Union drubbed Postal Department 3-0. Nihal (4th, 69th minutes) and Philips (37th minute) scored for the winners.
