Bengaluru FC snatched a fine 3-2 win over South United after Ajay Chettri powered home a penalty in the dying minutes in the BDFA Super Division league at the Bangalore Football Stadium here on Saturday.
Vignesh V opened the scoring for BFC in the 13th minute before Subhash converted a spot-kick in the 18th minute to level the scores for United.
BFC’s Prashanth K handled the ball inside the box leaving referee Arun with no choice but to point to the spot.
Manivannan then put United ahead with a strike in the 27th minute but BFC soon found an equaliser through Sourav just before half-time.
Unlike the action-packed opening half, the second period saw just one goal. The game seemed headed towards a draw but BFC finally turned it their way when referee Arun awarded a penalty after United’s Anto stopped the ball with his hand.
Anto was also handed a red card. Ajay stepped up and slotted the ball into the net, with the 88th minute strike proving to be the winner.
In ‘A’ Division, Bangalore Independents eked out a 1-0 win over Aeronautical Development Establishment. Zabi netted the lone goal in the 59th minute.
