Barbados: A day after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli called curtains on their time in Twenty20 Internationals, Ravindra Jadeja announced his retirement from the format on his social media account on Sunday.

"With a heart full of gratitude, I bid farewell to T20 internationals," Jadeja wrote, less than twenty-four hours after India had defeated South Africa to win the T20 World Cup in Barbados, on Instagram. "Like a steadfast horse galloping with pride, I've always given my best for my country and will continue to do so in other formats.

"Winning the T20 World Cup was a dream come true, a pinnacle of my T20 international career. Thank you for the memories, the cheers, and the unwavering support.”

Jadeja might not have had the best of tournaments, nor is a player best-suited for the format, but in 74 appearances he has offered enough to remain relevant to the team. He ended his career with 515 runs and 54 wickets.
