Australia won the toss and decided to bowl first as they take on Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune.

Australia vs Bangladesh: Playing XIs

Australia (Playing XI): David Warner, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Steven Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Inglis (w), Marcus Stoinis, Sean Abbott, Pat Cummins (c), Adam Zampa and Josh Hazlewood.

A good batting performance from Bangladesh to give their bowlers a decent total to defend on what looks like an excellent batting track. The openers laid a good foundation with a 76-run opening stand before the 22-year-old Towhid Hridoy (74) came in and smashed his maiden World Cup fifty.

Adam Zampa (2/32) was again excellent with the ball as he picked up his 22nd wicket of the tournament to move to the top of the wickets table. Sean Abbott (2/61) came into the side and was among the wickets which is a good sign for the Aussies.

Australia will fancy themselves to chase this down even without Maxwell who isn't in the side today. Early wickets are key and if Bangladesh can strike early that should make things interesting.

Labuschagne was excellent in the field effecting two 'run outs' and taking two catches

They played well at the top, put us under pressure. We pulled it back nicely. It is a decent score, but looks like a good wicket. (On the run outs) I think it is about awareness of where the run out could happen, and early speed towards the ball. I do a lot of work on stump hitting, sliding around and rely on whatever work you’ve done in practice before the tournament. Need to keep myself fresh for the tournament. (On how they’d approach chase) Play nice and positive up top, and then when we get an opportunity in the middle overs, just play smart and finish things off.

What an excellent all-round performance from Australia as they head to the semifinals after completing their highest successful run chase in their World Cup history. Adam Zampa (2/32) was instrumental with the ball as he helped restrict Bangladesh to just 306/8.

David Warner (53) provided a solid start and Steve Smith (63*) also played a handy knock. However, the day belongs to Mitchell Marsh (177* off 132 balls) who took the game away from Bangladesh with some lethal batting. He brought up his fifty off just 37 balls and never looked back.

With Maxwell and Marsh in the side, Australia have two batters who are capable of just exploding and scoring runs at will out in the middle.

It should be a mouth-watering clash when they take on South Africa at the semifinals with both sides catching the eye with the batting power in their line-ups.

It feels great. Obviously nice to chase this total down. Now, onto the semis. (On shifting down to No.3) I sort of knew that when Head came back in, I would go down to 3. Important to play with the same intent, back myself. There were a few games where I lost my intent but good to get it back. You will fail some times but important to get it right more times. (On his family back home) I am sure my Nana and Mum and everyone will be watching at home, and hopefully they will have a smile on their faces. My grandfather was a great man and we celebrated his life. Nice to be able to perform (for them) and nice to get the win. (On the semi-finals) Can't wait, mate. It is going to be a ripper. The four best teams are playing in the semis and I cannot wait to get to Kolkata. (On his bowling) Not every day that you get POTM after you concede 50 in four overs (laughs). Started off with -50 when I began batting (smiles). But good to get stuck in.

Najmul Shanto says the two run-outs shifted the entire momentum in Australia's favour

I think the two run-outs (which changed the momentum). We got off to a good start but lost momentum because of those run-outs. If we had scored 340-350 it would have been different. Our fast bowlers bowled really well but the spinners weren't as effective in the middle overs, we want to improve our bowling in the middle overs. It's disappointing, we didn't play our best this tournament. We will see what we can do better from now. Mahmuduallah batted really well in this World Cup and Shakib also bowled well in a couple of games. We have to improve as a team. It is not about individual performances, we want to look at the 9 games and work on areas we need to improve.

It was great. Great win leading to the semis, chasing a good total. We were not at our sharpest in the first innings. it was a really good wicket. We brought it back to a total that we could chase, not too upset with it. (On selection headaches for the semi-final) Good problems to have. All 15 have played this tournament now and I feel we can pick any one of them. (On Marsh's innings) Outstanding. I thought it was impressive the way he finished off the innings. The tempo that he played at was sustainable and he is a scary prospect to have in the next week. Seven games in a row, even when we were not at our best in some of those games, we came away with a win. Chasing 300-plus was something we did not do earlier. Feels like everything is clicking together.
