India are unbeaten in the tournament with five wins out of five while defending champions England are having a horrible time so far with just one win out of five which sees them sit at the bottom of the table.

Jos Buttler's team are playing for pride now and there's no better way to respond to their critics than with a strong performance against the in-form team in the tournament. Will they be able to turn over Rohit Sharma's side? Stay tuned as we bring you all the updates!

Toss: England win toss, opt to bowl!

An unchanged Playing XI as Buttler says his team 'play for pride' in the tournament now

We are going to bowl first today. Not anything in particular, it's a gut decision. It's a great occasion and hopefully, today we bring our best. Today, we want to put up a good show. We haven't done ourselves justice, today we want to put up a show and play for pride. Playing in front of a full crowd and against India, it's a great occasion. We are going with the same team.
Jos Buttler (England Captain)

A new challenge for India as they bat first for the first time in the tournament

We wanted to bat first, we have had a good time batting second. It’s a good surface, it has played well for the 100 overs. It’s quite important to think like that and is also important to play well. We have played some good cricket. It's always good to have a break. It's nice to come back here and get back into business. We are playing the same team we played in the last game.
Rohit Sharma (India Captain)

England need 230 runs to win!

A really good job by England to restrict India to just 229/9. Chris Woakes (2/33) laid the groundwork with a lung-busting seven over opening spell and David Willey (3/45) grabbed the big wickets of Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav.

Rohit Sharma (87) played an important knock for India. Suryakumar (49) was unlucky to miss out on a half-century. KL Rahul (39) and Bumrah (16) were the only other two batters to reach double-digit scores on a rare off day for India.

Full credit to England for how they executed their bowling plans and they should fancy themselves to chase down this total. Stay tuned as we have an exciting run chase coming up in just 20 mins.

All set for the run chase!

India win by 100 runs!

If it wasn't clear at first, it's definitely worth underlining now, India are the team to beat at the World Cup 2023!

The Men in Blue were rescued by their captain Rohit Sharma (87) in the first innings as Suryakumar (49) and KL Rahul (39) also chipped in to help the team reach 229/9.

The pacers then wreaked havoc as Mohammed Shami (4/22) and Jasprit Bumrah (3/32) dovetailed beautifully to crush England's hopes.

No batter was allowed to settle as the spinners Kuldeep Yadav (2/24) and Ravindra Jadeja (1/16) came in during the middle overs to give the pacers some reprieve.

It's a really dominant display from India as they extended their unbeaten streak to six games and also pick up their first victory when batting first in the tournament.

Their depth was tested as was the bowling with the team coming out of the test with flying colours.

Rohit Sharma wins the 'Player of the Match' award, the Indian captain was the only batter to get past the 50-run mark today on this track

Looking at where we were after the first 10 overs it was really important to create that partnership with KL Rahul. It was a challenging pitch, it got better to bat on as the game progressed, but happy with that win. I have got experience, it's not only about going out there and playing my shots (got to assess the conditions and situation) as well. It was neccessary for me to create that partnership with KL. I still felt we were 20 runs short (at the halfway stage). Batting against the new ball was a bit challenging, the ball got softer and it wasn't easy rotating strike either. Like I said we were 20-30 runs short, but I will take that win any day.
Rohit Sharma (87 off 101 balls)

The men chiefly responsible for that English collapse!

Jos Buttler says many of his 'top players' are a 'long way short' of their best

Very disappointed. At the halfway stage, chasing 230, we fancied ourselves, same old story. I wasn't sure if dew would come or not. We bowled well, took wickets, we would have taken 229. Personally, I wanted to soak some pressure up and then build a partnership and kill the momentum that India had. It's about committing and executing your skill. There wasn't scoreboard pressure. We are just falling short whichever way we are doing it. Some top players, we are a long way short of our best. Excellent start in the powerplay, there was a bit of indifferent bounce, the ground fielding was good. It felt like today was the day, but we didn't back it up with the bat. We still got lots to play for.
Jos Buttler (England Captain)

Rohit Sharma commends the character in his squad as the 'experienced players stood up at the right time'

This was the game, a lot of character in the squad. All our experienced played stood up at the right time and got the game for us. Looking at how the tournament has go on, we had to come and bat here. We were challenged upfront, they bowled pretty well upfront. To get to a total on a pitch that something in it, we just wanted to get to a total we could play with it. We were not great with the bat. Losing three wickets isn't the ideal situation. Couple of guys threw it, including myself. When you look at the overall picture, we were 30 runs short. It's not something you see everyday. When you start your innings, you have to try and get a couple of wickets to put the pressure back on the opposition. You can always rely on our seamers to come good and get those crucial breakthroughs. They exploited the conditions. They put the ball in the right areas. We have a good balance (in the bowling), there's a bit of options and with experience as well. It's very important that the batters put runs on the board.
Rohit Sharma (India Captain)
