Crediting his bowlers for the comprehensive five-wicket win over Delhi Daredevils, Kings XI Punjab skipper Adam Gilchrist said his team has put itself in the right direction starting the four-match away journey with a victory.
"Now, we have got now three of the most fancied team in the competition in KKR, Mumbai and Chennai in a row. It's a nice way to start this trip. We have made a step in the right direction," Gilchrist said at the post-match press conference last night.
The former Australian wicketkeeper said his bowlers did a fine job by restricting the Daredevils to a modest 120 after choosing to bowl.
"It was terrific to get another win. The way Harmeet (Singh) came on and implemented his skills was terrific. To restrict them to 120 was a great effort. Back-to-back wins build a good spirit and lift the spirit within the team," he said.
Gilchrist also praised his opening partner, Mandeep Singh, who once again got the team off to a flier in a small run chase.
"Mandeep (Singh) has been fantastic for us. I have let him down by getting out first. He has been able to consolidate with whoever comes in," the 41-year-old added.
Harmeet, who was awarded the man-of-the-match for taking three wickets, said his quick adjustment to the wicket helped him perform better.
"I was a double-paced wicket as some balls were going through and some stopping on batsmen. It was important to read the wicket quickly and adjust your variations," the medium pacer said.
