A late rally from South United couldn’t prevent them from going down 1-2 to HASC in their Super Division match at the Bangalore Football Stadium on Monday.
South United’s Senthil scored from a corner in the 88th minute but HASC hung on to clinch all three points.
HASC scored through Gopi in the 14th minute before Karthigeyan doubled the advantage in the 68th minute.
HASC started the better of the two sides and took a deserved lead after Mahendra Mani fed Gopi down the left. Gopi beat his marker before shooting past ’keeper Kabir.
HASC went in search of extending their lead but a lack of a final ball kept letting them down before Karthigeyan struck midway in the second-half.
The goal came after Kabir fumbled a Xavier Vijay Kumar shot and the former was on hand to blast home the rebound.
South United got one back nearing the end but it was too little too late.
