Veteran cueist R Umadevi Nagaraj made her maiden trip to Cambridge a memorable one, returning home on Friday with two World Championship titles.

Two days after pocketing the WLBSA Championship Seniors’ category snooker crown, the Bangalorean produced a fine all-round performance to annex the main category billiards title as well, defeating Emma Bonney 201-143 on Thursday.

“I am really delighted and lost for words,” an ecstatic Umadevi said.
“More than snooker, winning the billiards title has thrilled me. During the last three months, I spent more time practising billiards than snooker.

“I really didn’t expect to do well in snooker, but I was confident of my chances.
“The win over Chitra (Magimairaj) in the semifinals gave me a lot of confidence and I fed off it. Last year, I lost in the semifinals and I wanted to go one step better this time, and I was mentally prepared for it.”
