Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) President Anil Kumble and Secretary Javagal Srinath, who are not contesting this year's elections, today announced their support to a team headed by industrialist Sadananda Maiya.
Speaking to reporters here, Kumble said Maiya and his team will fight the December 1 elections against Srikantadatta Wodeyar-Brijesh Patel team.
Maiya will slug it out against Wodeyar, the scion of the Mysore Royal family for the President's post, Kumble said adding that former Test umpire A V Jayaprakash will contest against Patel for Secretary's post.
Kumble also announced the Cricket Working Group consisting of himself, Rahul Dravid, Gundappa Vishwanath, Syed Kirmani, Srinath, Venkatesh Prasad, Roger Binny and Sunil Joshi.
Talking about the vision of Team Kumble for next three years, Srinath said they want to take cricket to the rural schools under a Rural Development Programme providing equal opportunity to tap and promote rural cricketers.
The team also wants further development of zonal cricket by adding six to seven centres to the zones which would act as feeders to the respective zones. "This will add up to 40-45 new cricket centres in Karnataka," Srinath said.
The team also wants to improve infratsructure at the clubs, Srinath said adding that it also wants to provide education scholorship for highly talented but economically backward academy boys. The team also wants to develop a master plan for Chinnaswamy stadium that would cover the next decade.
