Edjique Lorng Riva Landry scored a superb hat-trick as Controllerate of Inspection Electronics (CIL) drubbed a lacklustre Accountants General's Office Recreation Club (AGORC) 3-0 in the BDFA Super Division league at the Bangalore Football Stadium here on Tuesday.
Landry, born in Ivory Coast, opened the scoring and added another with a delightful chip a minute before the half-time. Landry then completed the tally with his third in the 75th minute. AGORC, promoted to the league after winning the ‘A’ Division, struggled to contain the CIL players, particularly the 19-year-old Landry, whose movements on and off the ball left them in the dust.
In the very first minute, Landry, left unmarked inside the box, placed the ball past the AGORC goalkeeper K Naresh after receiving a good pass from defender R Vijay. In the 16th minute, AGORC midfielder Abhishek missed a good chance to equalise when he slammed his shot over the bar from the edge of the box.
After a brief period of possession, CIL doubled their advantage in the added time of the first half (45+2 minutes). Defender Naveen lobbed a long pass to Landry, who timed his run perfectly to get past AGORC defenders and score his second with a dink over the onrushing goalkeeper. The second half was no different as CIL, clearly the superior side, maintained their dominance.
However, against the run of play, AGORC created a chance in the 74th minute when forward M Dada Nabeel got past defenders and took a shot, which was blocked by the CIL defenders inside the box. Three minute later, CIL launched a superb counter attack when winger Stalin D found Landry on the left flank, who dribbled past the defenders and placed the ball past ’keeper Naresh in the bottom right corner of the net.
Eagles win In the ‘A’ Division, Sathish Kumar scored the only goal as Bangalore Eagles beat Sri Gajanana 1-0.
