The win helped Mumbai FC, on 17 points, go past Chirag United who are three points behind them on fourteenafter each having played ten matches.

Chirag sorely missed the services of the Joshimar D’ Silva, who had to sit out after picking two yellow cards, resulting in a suspension. With their Nigerian forward Elijah Junior yet to recover from injury, Chirag struggled badly up front as Mohammad Rafique and Branco Cardozo put up a listless display.

Mumbai FC were equally lacklustre, though, they converted the opportunity that came in their way. With the Chirag defence nowhere to be seen, Sukore capitalised on a Faizal Rehman cross to head in powerfully past the goalkeeper for a 19th minute lead.

Chirag United were awarded a penalty in the 88th minute after S Kutti Mani handled the ball inside the box. But Chirag failed to capitalise on the golden opportunity.
