Among the 10 were a couple of heavyweights like Ashok Shandilya and Shyam Jagtiani, both from Railways.
Also in the running was their team-mate Girish Rajashekar, a pre-quarterfinalist at the 2009 World championship in Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, Amit Bhushan of Karnataka dished out one of the day’s better performances as he shrugged off a 1-2 deficit to beat Andhra’s Khizar Raoof 3-2 (65-35, 15-103, 16-59, 69-0, 70-38) to set up a clash with Girish in the fifth round to be played on later. Girish entered the next round by getting the better of Karnataka’s Vinay 3-1 (72-40, 46-11, 49-71, 77-1).
