The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has left out two former captains, GR Viswanath and Ajit Wadekar, from the function to commemorate India’s 500th Test between India and New Zealand here from Thursday.

The BCCI were to invite former Test captains for the function supposed to be held before the first Test match between India and New Zealand but there are many former greats who have got no invitation.

“I haven’t been invited,” was the simple answer from Vishwanath, who played 91 Test matches for India from 1969 to 1983, and led the team in two Tests as a stand-in skipper.

Bishan Singh Bedi, who has been vocal in favouring Lodha Committee recommendations,
found himself in the same boat as his former colleagues.
