After Pooja Dhanda won India the silver on Monday, Kadian fetched the second medal for the country after beating Petriashvili Geno of Georgia 3-1 to clinch the bronze medal on the third day of the event.

Earlier, Kadian finished second in Group B. The Indian wrestler lost to Cuban Conyedo Ruano Abraham de Jesus 0-3 before beating Dhesi Parmvir of Canada 3-0 and South African Schutte Andries 3-1. Kadian then won the bronze medal with Geno, who finished second in Group A.

In badminton, Prannoy pulled off a brilliant win over Chinese Taipei’s Hsieh Feng-Tse 21-13, 18-21, 24-22 in a 51-minute battle to reach the semifinals of the boy’s singles at the Indoor Stadium.

Tennis ace sixth seed Yuki Bhambri continued his good run and thrashed Huang Liang-Chi 6-2, 6-4 to set up a clash with John Morrissey of Ireland in the pre-quarterfinals on Wednesday.

Among other Indians in fray, Arjun produced his personal best of 63.90 metres in the youth men’s discus to qualify for the final round while in the 3000M heats, Indrajeet Patel clocked 8:15:02 to finish ninth.

In rowing, Yasin Khan and Gurpreet Singh advanced to the junior men’s pair final round after finishing fifth in the semifinals. Thomas Nimmy and Deo Mitali Sekhar entered junior women’s pair final round with a sixth place finish in the semifinals.

Indian swimmers, meanwhile, enjoyed a rest day on Tuesday. It was clarified on the day that Aaron D’Souza has not qualified for the Commonwealth Games in the 200M freestyle, contrary to earlier reports. Aaron had clocked 1:53.35 here while the qualifying mark for 200 free is 1:50.00 (6th to 8th place finish in the previous edition of CWG) and not 1:56.25, as reported.
