Paris: French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday urged his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian to support a "general de-escalation" in the Middle East during a conversation, the presidential office said.

In a separate discussion, Macron reiterated to Lebanon's caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati the "absolute necessity" of obtaining a ceasefire in Lebanon without further delay.
