Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said he was looking forward to engaging in productive discussions with world leaders at the G7 Summit on Friday to address global challenges and foster international cooperation for a brighter future.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met French President Emmanuel Macron and discussed ways to further strengthen the strategic partnership including in areas of defence, nuclear and space, and exchanged views on key global and regional issues.
The two leaders met on the sidelines of the G7 summit here in the southern resort town of Italy.

"It was a delight to meet PM Rishi Sunak in Italy. I reiterated my commitment to further strengthen the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the third term of the NDA Government. There is great scope to deepen ties in sectors like semiconductors, technology and trade. We also talked about further cementing ties in the defence sector," PM Modi posted on X.
"Had a very productive meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. India is eager to further cement bilateral relations with Ukraine. Regarding the ongoing hostilities, reiterated that India believes in a human-centric approach and believes that the way to peace is through dialogue and diplomacy."
US expects to see unprecedented unity across the G7 in confronting China's non-market policies and practices, Reuters quoted a senior US official as saying.
Group of Seven leaders made no direct reference to abortion in their final communique on Friday, according to a draft seen by Reuters, with Italy refusing to bow to French pressure to include the word.
The issue led to a spat between the leaders of the two countries, with Italian PM Giorgia Meloni accusing French President Macron of trying to score points ahead of elections in France.

In his address at the outreach session of the G7 Summit, French President Emmanuel Macron praised PM Narendra Modi's initiative on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) as G20 Chair, reported ANI.
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Friday defended his country's proposal to tax the super-rich globally during his intervention at the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Italy.
"It's past time for the super-rich to pay their fair share of taxes," Lula told the G7, according to a written speech released by Brazil's government.

Addressing the Outreach session at the annual gathering of the Group of Seven, PM Modi said that we must strive to make technology creative, not destructive. Only then will we be able to lay foundation of inclusive society.

Talking about India's approach in the field of energy, PM Modi listed four principles, namely - availability, accessibility, affordability and acceptability.
"We are making every possible effort to fulfill our commitment to achieve target of Net Zero by 2070. It is our resolve to build a developed India by 2047; our commitment is that no section of society should be left behind," he said.
Talking about India's presidency of G20 last year, the Prime Minister said that he is proud that the African Union was made a permanent member of the grouping.
He also emphasized the development of the Global South and said that India considers it its responsibility to put priorities and concerns of countries of the Global South on world stage.
"India contributing to economic and social development, stability and security of all countries of Africa, and will continue to do so," he added.
