Qatar denies funding hospital that Hamas uses tunnels under

In response to an IDF spokesperson's claim that Hamas had dug a tunnel underneath a Qatari-funded hospital in Gaza, Qatar's ambassador for Gaza reconstruction, Mohamed al-Emadi, strongly criticized Israel.

Emadi says the IDF claim is “without concrete evidence or an independent investigation… and a blatant attempt to justify the occupation’s targeting of civilian facilities, including hospitals, schools, gatherings of population and shelters of displaced people.”

Israel says it has split Gaza Strip in two in drive to Isolate Hamas’ leadership

The Israeli military said its forces had split the Gaza Strip in two after a night of heavy airstrikes, a move that Israel said would make it more difficult for Hamas to control the enclave.

Israeli officials made the announcement after two Israeli columns surrounded Gaza City, which is densely populated and in the northern half of the Gaza Strip, effectively cutting it off from the south. Israeli officials have described the city as a Hamas stronghold. (NYT)

Malaysia says won't recognise unilateral sanctions on supporters of Palestinian groups

Malaysia said on Tuesday it will not recognise unilateral sanctions in response to a proposed US law to level sanctions against foreign supporters of Hamas and other militant groups operating in Palestine.

The Hamas International Financing Prevention Act, aimed at cutting off international financing to the groups, was passed by the US House of Representatives last week and is awaiting voting by the Senate.
