The Israeli military has revealed footage of what it claims to be bunker of slain Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar, which he is believed to have occupied during the first half of the Gaza conflict.
As per the video, the mastermind behind the October 7 Hamas attacks was ready to ride out the ongoing conflict with a stash of cash, cologne and other creature comforts, which were found in an allegedly fully-stocked bunker under the now-ravaged Khan Younis city.
The video from the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) shows the details of Sinwar's hideout underground. A well-equipped bunker can be seen, furnished with modern showers, many bathrooms, as well as a fully functioning kitchen stocked with food labelled with the logo of the United Nations Palestinian Refugee Agency (UNRWA).
The footage reinforces a long-time Israeli accusation that Hamas steals from these agencies, which worsens the situation in Gaza.
The bunker reportedly had a private shower as well and many bottles of cologne. Soldiers purportedly found Sinwar's personal quarters, where they was a large safe with millions in Israeli currency.
Soldiers also found lockers with weapons, ammo, and explosives there.
Sinwar had fled the bunker before the IDF could capture him, and it is believed he spent some time in Khan Younis before he was forced to flee south again to Rafah, which is where his luck ran out. Sinwar was killed in a strike that Israelis described as a 'routine operation'.
As per footage released by the Israeli army, Sinwar's wife Abu Zamar was carrying a Hermes Birkin bag worth Rs 28 lakh at the time of their escape.
Footage released by Israeli armed forces also showed the final moments of Sinwar's life, where the Hamas leader caked in dust can be seen hurling a stick-like object at an approaching Israeli drone.
