The banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, al-Qaeda and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi have joined hands and are using each other's resources to carry out terrorist attacks in Pakistan, Interior Minister Rehman Malik told reporters at the airport in the southern port city of Karachi.
The Lashkar-e-Jhangvi is mainly involved in creating terror in Karachi, he said.

The minister said evidence had been found of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi's involvement in a recent car bomb attack on the office of the Crime Investigation Department in Karachi. Eighteen people were killed and over 100 injured in that attack.

Malik also said that no foreign hands were involved in fomenting terrorism in the country and none of the persons arrested for links to suicide attacks and bombings had come from abroad. All "treacherous" Pakistanis who are involved in terror attacks should be held accountable for their actions, he said.

Noting that the security situation in Karachi had improved, Malik said there was no need to deploy the army in the city.
