A video showing three women in San Francisco abusing an Uber driver, originally from Nepal, has gone viral on social media. One of them even deliberately coughed on the man indentified as Subhakar Khadka while being inside the car.
The scuffle reportedly began after the driver asked one of the women to wear mask. One of them started hurling abuse and even tried to snatch away the driver's phone. She even ripped off the man's face-mask.
Journalist Dion Lim shared the video on Twitter with a caption that read, "Uber driver Subhakar told me he picked up 3 women in the Bayview yesterday & after asking one to wear a mask was subject to slurs, taunting & one grabbing his phone. He’s taking a few days off. SFPD [San Francisco Police Department] is investigating".
She also said that according to police, one of the women sprayed pepper spray inside the car, for which Uber initially offered the driver $20 to clean the vehicle.
In a series of tweets, the journalist further said that after reviewing the video, Uber has banned the passenger from its service.
