<p>The Delhi University has said that the colleges would be given discretion in relaxing cut-offs for women aspirants. <br /><br />The colleges would also be allowed to conduct admissions through sports and extra-curricular activities (ECA) quota. </p>.<p>In order to keep admission process simple and centralised, the Delhi University on Wednesday had announced scrapping of additional eligibility criteria, which varies from college to college.<br /><br />Going back on its policy of inclusiveness, the university said it would continue to allow relaxation in cut-offs for women students. </p>.<p>Last year, many off-campus colleges offered relaxation in cutoffs of 1-5 per cent across courses. <br /><br />This year as well, it will be for the colleges to decide whether they want to even out the sex ratio. <br /><br />The office of Dean Students’ Welfare said that the colleges are required to seek university approval before issuing cut-off relaxation. <br /><br />There are to be no changes in existing provision of reserving five per cent seats in various courses for acclaimed and certified performers in sports and ECA. </p>.<p>The candidates will have to apply to individual colleges for sports/ECA trials after registering on the common pre-admission form. <br /><br />The joint dean, students’ welfare and media coordinator, Malay Neerav said colleges will be required to follow the university guidelines over admissions through ECA and sports quota. But it would be for colleges to decide the breakup for reservation under sports and ECA category, he said.<br /><br />The university has planned to stick to uniform policy for admitting gap year students. Earlier, colleges had separate criteria on giving admissions to students who took break from formal education. <br /><br />According to university officials, the gap year students would not face any deduction from their best of four aggregates.</p>
