<p>The Monsoon Surf Challenge, a unique surfing competition, scheduled to be hosted by Mantra Surf Club and organised by Kanara Surfing and Water Promotion Council from June 2 has been called off due to monsoon and cyclone that have hit the coast of Mangaluru. According to a press release, conditions aren’t still deterring to surfers and surfing, but the decision has been taken post the suggestion of the district administration.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Commenting on the cancellation of the event, Kanara Surfing and Water Promotion Council secretary Gaurav Hegde said that the Council is disheartened with the cancellation of the event. “We were eagerly looking forward to it, but certain situations cannot be avoided and we will hopefully be able to host the event some time in the near future,” he said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Meanwhile, Mantra Surf Club member Rammohan Paranjpe said that he would like to thank the surfers for accepting the offer for participating in the event. “We hope to come back stronger next season,” he said.</p>
