<p>Two women committed suicide by hanging in separate incidents in the city, police said on Wednesday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>In the first incident, Poonam Devi, 30, a resident of Madhu Vihar area in east Delhi, was found hanging by a rope tied to the ceiling fan at her house.<br /><br />“Poonam’s husband Shyamnarayan had informed us about the incident at around 11 am on Tuesday. She was taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) Hospital in Khichripur, where she was declared brought dead,” a senior police official said.<br /><br />Police have not recovered any suicide note and are currently investigating the reason behind her decision.<br /><br /> “A case has also been registered at Madhu Vihar police station,” the official added.<br />Poonam’s body was handed over to her family after post-mortem. She is survived by her husband and one-year-old son.<br /><br />The second incident was reported from Kalyanpuri area of east Delhi, where Mithlesh committed suicide by hanging at her house.<br /><br />“We had received a call late on Tuesday night reporting that a person had committed suicide,” another police official said. No suicide note was found from there.<br /><br />Police suspects that Mithlesh may have taken the extreme step due to depression. Her family members and friends also said that she did not have any enmity with anyone. A post-mortem was conducted at LBS Hospital.</p>
