Can't rush research: ICMR must speak truth to power
There is much to criticise the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) over for its recent diktat to deliver a vaccine against Covid-19 by August 15. The direction is so deeply and obviously flawed that there is no gainsaying that the ICMR has made itself and India lose respect and credibility. That the purpose was political gains, rather than a genuine scientific effort and advancement is obvious from the proposed date itself.

In COVID-19 battle, doctors are hanging in by a thread
The Confederation of Medical Associations of Asia and Oceania met on June 6 to discuss the pandemic. One of the topics was the safety of doctors treating COVID-19 patients. Malaysia and Hong Kong reported that not a single doctor was infected with the coronavirus. If the healthcare system is well-managed, healthcare workers can be fully protected.
