The plague that shook Bangalore
The plague of 1898 wreaked havoc in Bangalore, apart from the rest of the Mysore State and Dharwad. In spite of precautions, plague struck both the City and Cantonment areas. Though the authorities failed to check the epidemic, town planning and sanitation got a facelift. The Victoria Hospital was inaugurated in 1900.
