<p>Auto component maker Bosch on Thursday inaugurated its 14th manufacturing facility at Bidadi near Bengaluru. The new plant, which has come up with an investment of Rs 340 crore, was opened by CM Siddaramaiah.<br /><br /></p>.<p>“India is a key pillar of our growth strategy in Asia Pacific. A strong local presence is the basis for further growth in the region,” said Peter Tyroller, the member of the board of management of the Bosch Group responsible for Asia Pacific. <br /><br />“Bosch is on track to double sales in Asia Pacific by 2020,” said Tyroller, referring to the target the company had set itself in 2014.<br /><br />Bosch employs 29,000 people in India, of which, 17,000 are employed in Karnataka. Around 12,000 people work in R&D. Bosch India filed 20 patents in 2008 and 150 patents in 2014. <br /><br />The German company invested Rs 5,400 crore in India from 2010 to 2014, and Rs 650 crore will be invested in 2015, the company said.<br /><br />The construction of the Bidadi plant spans over two phases, with the second phase scheduled to be completed by 2018. <br /><br />The state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Bidadi will produce diesel products that were previously manufactured at the Adugodi plant, and would have over 2,600 associates working at the facility, the company said.<br /><br />Like the previous location, the new plant in Bidadi will continue to be the lead plant for the production of single cylinder common-rail pumps, along with conventional fuel injection pumps.<br /><br /></p>
