<p> DomainX, the first dedicated international domain name conference organised by Domain Name Owners Association of India (DNOAi), concluded here on Saturday with a call for tapping growing business opportunities in the domain sales business.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The event witnessed overwhelming participation of internet community, startups, investors, internet legal experts and global domain experts. DomainX brand ambassador Deepak Daftari said India’s Internet users have already crossed 300 million in December 2013 and henceforth domain registration will gain in profile in the country.<br /><br />Interacting with Deccan Herald, DNOAi India Founder Manmeet P Singh said the domain business is picking up in India. <br /><br />“Domain business is $1 billion globally and it is an $18-million business in India. The business will gain momentum once we reach our target of achieving 500 million users by 2018 as part of the government’s Digital India initiatives,” said Singh.<br /><br />“As per Deloitte Consulting report titled ‘Value of Connectivity’ published last year, India’s internet economy could eventually create 65 million jobs and increase per capita income by 29 per cent as more people come online. So we should gear up for the business opportunity and the legal wherewithal to tap it,” said Daftari.<br /><br />NIXI manages IN Registry<br /><br />The National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) is a government non-profit company established in 2003 to become the operational meeting point of Internet service providers (ISPs) in India. It manages IN Registry, a nodal body mandated with the registration and operation of .in domain names. NIXI expects to register 2.5 million .in domain names by 2015.<br /><br />Globally, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is the domain name governing body which is based out of California, United States. The event also organised a legal panel discussion on ‘UDRP (Uniform Domain Dispute Resolution Policy), URS ( Uniform Rapid Suspension System), and INDRP (India Uniform Domain Dispute Resolution Policy)’ related to domain names and trademark issues.<br /><br /><br /></p>
