UAE-based FlyDubai hopes to launch flight to India soon

"Our discussions with the authorities in India about the commencement of our operations to the region are ongoing," a FlyDubai spokesperson  said in an e-mail.

The airline, however, was hopeful of getting the necessary approvals shortly, he said.
"We are working very closely together (with Indian authorities) and hope to have a confirmed date for the start of our flights in the near future," the spokesperson said.
The UAE-based air carrier had earlier planned to launch flights to Chandigarh, Coimbatore and Lucknow but had to drop them as it did not receive the required government approvals on time.

FlyDubai began operations in June last year and currently flies to 11 destinations in the Middle East and Africa, including Beirut, Amman, Doha, Djibouti and Alexandria. The airline has ordered 54 Boeing 737-800 single-aisle planes and has received delivery of seven so far
