<p>The 49th Ciett World Employment Conference (WEC) will be held in India for the first time from May 25 to 27, 2016.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Indian Staffing Federation (ISF), an apex body of flexi staffing industry in India, will host the conference in New Delhi. Rituparna Chakraborty, president of ISF, said on Wednesday that Italy hosted the conference last year.<br /><br />“A member country can bid for hosting the conference, and we won it. For the first time, the conference will happen in India, and more than 100-plus delegates will participate in the WEC from 40 countries,” she said.<br /><br />An important criteria for winning the bid was infrastructure. “Infrastructure means the country’s relationship with the government and key stakeholders,” she said.<br /><br />Apart from exchanging ideas, and participation from various stakeholders, the conference will bring the world’s employment focus to our country, said Chakraborty.<br /><br />“We are engaged with NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation), and reaching out to the Ministry of Skill Development And Entrepreneurship for this conference,” she said.<br /><br />Can learn about new tools<br /><br />If an MNC requires people for its branches located across 25 states, they need people with different levels of skills, and it’s a complex process.<br /><br />“Through the conference, we can learn from other countries about the tools they use. In India, we spend huge amounts to hire and identify candidates because we do a good amount manually,” the ISF president said. Abroad, they use technology for hiring, she pointed out.<br /><br />“Around the globe, companies see a lot of potential in India where they have seen a 20 per cent growth in the Indian staffing market over the last three years,” she said. According to her, nearly 12 million people enter the Indian labour market every year, but less than 10 per cent land jobs.<br /><br />“We have to focus more on vocational skills. Why only engineering degrees? We need to give them more options, and we also need to create more manufacturing jobs,” said Chakraborty.</p>
