Zynga sets up its India office in Bangalore

With 235 million monthly active users (MAU), the company, famous for its social games like Farm Ville, Mafia Wars, Cafe World, Fish Ville, et al, has opened its first office outside of San Francisco here.

Briefing reporters Zynga Game Network India Private Limited Country Head Shan Kadavil said the company will hire about 100 computer scientists and engineers.

“We require highly talented professionals to manage about two petabytes (1,000,000,000,000,000) of data transferred across Zynga games on a daily basis and to build next generation infrastructure.



He said the company will look at hiring people from other software firms and also extend it to university graduates. Zynga, will also be developing games from its India office after the initial goal of enhancing the infrastructure is met Zynga Chief Technology Officer Cadir Lee said, adding the firm will start a gaming studio in the country.

On market potential in India, Lee, quoting Internet & Mobile Association of India said 41 per cent of active internet users in India played online games in 2008, up 89 per cent showcasing a huge potential besides additions that will happen in the next five years or so.
