Accessing the Kempegowda interchange Metro station in the busy Majestic area is set to get more convenient in the coming days as plans are finally afoot to link the existing subway through a pedestrian path.

At present, commuters have to walk on the busy Gubbi Thotadappa Road as the subway from KSR Railway Station and BMTC bus station ends about 100 metres before the Metro station. With the footpaths encroached by toilets and hawkers, pedestrians have to negotiate the busy traffic to reach the Metro station.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) has provided a passage in front of the station’s western entrance which will be connected from the side of the KSRTC bus station. “KSRTC has agreed to provide the land required for the subway which will be built by BMRCL,” KSRTC chief manager K S Vishwanath said.

The Kempegowda Metro station witnesses a footfall of more than 60,000 commuters every day.
