<p>Construction industry is the second largest employer in the nation after agriculture. There are over one lakh construction companies out of which 250 are major ones and nearly four lakh contractors and sub contractors work for this industry, said national president of Builders’ Association of India Cherian Varkey. <br /><br /></p>.<p>He was speaking after inaugurating the 25th All India Builders’ Convention here on Friday and gave a call to the builders to rededicate themselves and work together to improve the association and its programmes.<br /><br />Abbas Jasdanwalla, managing director, National Consolidated Construction Company was presented the life time achievement award. Receiving the honour, Jasdanwalla said, it is only through hard work one can achieve. There is no substitute to hardwork. His experience has taught him that putting in hardwork is bound to get rewards. <br /><br />Builders are the ones who build the nation. They take the risk of living anywhere. So live with dignity, confidence and unity to change the image of the builders in public life, said member of the parliament Kavuri Sambasiva Rao. <br /><br />Member of Parliament A H Vishwanath congratulated BAI on completion of 70 years as an association and 25 years as a centre in Mysore. An issue of BAI’s monthly magazine ‘Mysore shilpi’ was released by him. District in charge minister S A Ramdas expressed his happiness over the Mybuild expo and the convention held in the city which has a great history of ancient archaeology and building techniques.<br /><br />Vice president of BAI J R Sethuramalingam, honorary secretary Mahesh M Mudda, M S Ramaprasad, honorary treasurer Anand J Guptha, chairman of Mysore centre T N Hemanth, chairman of organising committee N S Muralidhara, honorary secretary B R Badrinath, convention chairman A S Chinnaswamy Raju and Buildtech chairman M G Somashekar were present.<br /><br />An international seminar on the topic ‘Greenstruct: mechanise towards sustainability,’ is being held on Saturday as part of the convetnion at the NIE indoor complex.<br /></p>
