<p>The newly appointed Mangalore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Chairman Ibrahim Kodichal took charge on Friday. Since May 14, 2013, MUDA did not have a president. <br /><br /></p>.<p>After Ramesh S tendered resignation, Deputy Commissioner Prakash, ZP CEO Tulasi Maddineni and DC A B Ibrahim were serving as the administrators. <br /><br />Speaking on the occasion, he said he will continue to serve the citizens of Mangaluru. Priority will be given to listen to the woes of those who are in distress. <br /><br />He said that he will render his duty with dedication. “With the support of MUDA Commissioner and staff at the MUDA, all the works will be discharged effectively. I am confident of discharging my responsibility effectively.” <br /><br />He appealed to the citizens of Mangaluru not to have distrust on MUDA. “People can contact me at any time,” he added. He has been serving the Congress for the last 45 years. While thanking KPCC president, Dr G Parameshwara, and ministers, MLAs and MLCs from the district for reposing confidence on him, he said he work for the overall development of Mangaluru. <br /><br />He has served as the Mandala Panchayat Pradhan, Ullal Block Congress President, DCC Vice President and DCC Secretary. He was serving as the DCC in charge President for the last two years. <br /><br />MLC Ivan D’Souza said that all those who serve the party sincerely will be recognised in the party. “The MUDA should take up lot of development works not only in the Mangalore City Corporation limits but also in the neighbouring areas which come under MUDA jurisdiction.” <br /><br />MLA Mohiuddin Bava said as part of efforts to prevent traffic congestion on major thoroughfares, the MUDA should give priority to develop ring road. The MUDA should make the process of obtaining licenses hassle free. <br /><br />MLA J R Lobo said Mangaluru is second fastest developing city in the state. There is a need to develop the city in a systematic way. The MUDA needs to cater to the needs of the people. Pending projects needs to be taken up on a priority basis. New layouts needs to be developed to provide sites to the poor siteless at an affordable price. The land which is in the possession of the MUDA needs to be converted into sites to be distributed among people. <br /><br />Mayor Mahabala Marla appealed to the newly appointed president to solve row over single site approval. The process of single-site approval from the MUDA was causing a lot of problems in the district where marginal landholdings were common. <br /><br /></p>
