<p>Less than a month after a retired high court chief justice and his wife were attacked and robbed by dacoits at farmhouse at Pattasomahahalli in Pandavapura taluk, the police have nabbed 12 persons involved in the dacoity.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Disclosing this to mediapersons on Saturday, SP Bushan Borase said, the arrested are habitual offenders and the gang also includes a railway employee (gangmen). Most of the gang members are from Mandya district, while others are from Mysuru and Shivamogga districts.<br /><br />The arrested are Kuppi Naga, Girish K B, Nagesh K R, Jaikumar, Sudeep alias Kariya, Gavigowda, G L Punith, Prasanna G K, G J Bairali, Kari Idli, Siddaraju and H C Rohith.<br /><br />The absconding gang members are identified as Krishna alias Gaja wanted in 14 cases, while Jaga alias Jagadish involved in 18 cases, Ayyappa alias Lava in 14 cases, Chetan, Vinod, Ramesh, Kumar, Raagu, Devaraja and Naga.<br /><br />It may be mentioned here that the dacoits had decamped with gold jewellery and cash worth Rs 12 lakh from the farmhouse, after attacking the retired judge Shivappa and his wife, on October 25. Shivappa, the retired chief justice of Madras High Court, had bought a huge tract of land and had built a farmhouse. He was living with his wife, while children were settled elsewhere.<br /><br />Eleneeru Naga, who was frequenting Shivappa’s farmhouse to pluck coconuts, had spread rumours that the couple in the house possess cash and jewellery worth Rs 300 to Rs 350 crore. This was how the accused who got a wind of it, decided to target them and hatched a plan. <br /><br />Railway gangman P J Dharmesh monitored the surroundings of the house and informed the fellow gang members about regular visitors to the house. The gang met near Doddagarudanahalli on October 23 and chalked out the plan. Before striking, they kept vigil near the farmhouse on October 24 and executed the plan following day, the SP said.<br /><br />Two persons kept vigil at Baburayanakoppalu, while two others were at railway station. Another two waited outside the house, helping others to get their act done inside the house.<br /><br />Borase said, based on the information provided by the victim couple about conversation among the dacoits on the day, the investigators had suspected the handiwork of professionals behind the same. A list of suspects was prepared and their call detail records were traced. Based on it, the culprits were nabbed near Kikkeri and surrounding areas, he added.<br /><br />Though police were successful arresting them in just 20 days but could recover only Rs 52,000 cash and 187 grams of jewellry from them. Bushan Borase said four teams were formed to nab the case. <br /><br />The office of IGP (Southern Range) B K Singh has been recommended to announce a cash prize of Rs one lakh for each team, SP said.<br /> </p>
