<p>The State Government on Monday allotted a 50 X 50 ft BDA site to noted playback singer P B Srinivas in OMBR layout. Chief Minister Yeddyurappa handed over the allotment letter to the singer at his chamber in Vidhana Soudha, on Monday. <br /><br />The 79-year old multi-faceted singer, Srinivas, in turn, presented Keertisuganda, a Kannada song he himself had penned in praise of Kannada, to the CM. He also sung it after the CM felicitated him with Mysore peta and a shawl. “I am indebted to the Government for this recognition.I am so happy about it...It is God’s wish that such an honour comes to me now,” he stated.<br /><br />Srinivas, popularly known as PBS, has sung for Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu films. He is well known for his melodious playback singing in the Kannada filmdom for late Rajkumar.<br />Yeddyurappa while speaking to reporters said Srinivas has rendered yeoman service to Kannada. “He is not only a singer, but a poet. He has sung in almost all south Indian languages. I am one of his fans too,” he stated. Srinivas’s service should have been recognised long ago. But Governments in the past did not do it. “I have immense satisfaction that he has been recognised at least now,” the CM added. <br /><br />When contacted, BDA Commissioner Siddaiah said that the site allottee will get 3 to 6 months to pay the money. To a question, he said the site to the legendary singer has been allotted under the artists category which cost Rs 5.79 lakh. <br /></p>
