Help students develop their research and analysis skills by exploring the ingredients listed on chocolate wrappers.

STEPS

  • Each student will bring in a chocolate wrapper from home, or the teacher will provide a selection of different chocolate wrappers.

  • Students will form small groups and each group will receive a wrapper to analyze.

  • Using laptops or the school library, students will research each ingredient listed on their wrapper. They should find out where the ingredient comes from, its purpose in chocolate, and any interesting facts or health information.

  • Groups will create a short presentation or poster summarizing their findings. They should include information about each ingredient's origin, use, and any surprising facts discovered.

  • Each group will present their findings to the class, allowing time for questions and discussions on what was learned.

  • Students will learn about the components of everyday products like chocolate, enhancing their understanding of food science and global agriculture. This activity encourages curiosity about how ingredients are sourced and processed before becoming part of popular food items.
