Steps

Split students into small groups, assigning each group a role such as government officials, community members, scientists, or emergency responders.
Give each group a scenario card and a summary of the Sendai Framework. Allow time for each group to review their scenario and framework goals.
Each group discusses how they would respond to their given disaster scenario using the Sendai Framework’s strategies. They should consider actions for before, during, and after the disaster, focusing on risk reduction and resilience building.
Groups take turns presenting their disaster response plans to the class. Encourage creativity in their presentations, whether they choose to act out the scenario, use a digital presentation, or create posters.
After all presentations, hold a class discussion on the different approaches and what students learned about preparing for and responding to disasters.
