The JD(S) candidate defeated BPJP candidate Dr.M.C Sudhakar by a margin of 5673 votes.</p>.<p>In 2018, Chintamani constituency had 214487 electors, including 107138 males and 107306 females.</p>.<p>The constituency had 43 third gender voters in 2018.</p>.<p>After the 2018 polls, JD(S) and Congress formed a coalition government with H D Kumaraswamy as the Chief Minister.</p>.<p>However, the coalition government collapsed in 2019 following resignations of 13 rebel Congress and JD(S) MLAs.
