Haryana Assembly Elections 2024: 'PM Modi ensured Ambani can spend crores on weddings, but farmers can do it only by drowning in debt': Rahul Gandhi

'If this is not an attack on the Constitution, then what is?,' the Congress leader asked.

Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi during a rally in Haryana's Bahadurgarh attacked PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday highlighting the grand wedding of the Ambani scion a few months ago.

Rahul said that a farmer in India falls under the burden of bank loans to get his son married, while industrialist Mukesh Ambani spends crores of rupees on the wedding of his son, Anant.

"Have you seen Ambani wedding? Ambani spent crores on the wedding. Whose money is this? It is your money. You (farmers) take bank loans to marry your children but Narendra Modi ji has made such a structure under which the selected 25 people can spend crores on weddings, but a farmer can organise a wedding only by drowning in debt. If this is not an attack on the Constitution, then what is?" Rahul said addressing the crowd.

Rahul on Monday addressing another rally in Haryana had alleged that Modi has created a Mahabharat-like 'chakravyuh' to snatch money from the poor and give it to a few billionaires.

At a rally at Thanesar in Kurukshetra, also known as the land of the Mahabharat, Gandhi had used the 'chakravyuh' analogy to hit out at the BJP.

"Their (BJP) aim is to take out money from the common people's pockets and give it to a few billionaires. Like the 'chakravyuh' in Mahabharat, a similar 'chakravyuh' has been created and six people are behind it -- Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Adani, Ambani, Doval and Mohan Bhagwat," Gandhi alleged.

"The aim is that money of the poor people of this country should go into the hands of 20-25 billionaires," he added.

"Our aim is that if the debt of billionaires is waived then that of farmers, labourers, and the poor should also be waived.

"The way money is going into the bank accounts of Ambani and Adani... khatakhat, khatakhat, khatakhat, in same manner money should also come into your bank accounts," he told the gathering.

Haryana goes to polls on October 5 while results will be declared on October 8.
