The BJP candidate defeated INC candidate Kakaso Pandurang Patil by a margin of 8506 votes.</p>.<p>In 2018, Nippani constituency had 212456 electors, including 108492 males and 103954 females.</p>.<p>The constituency had 10 third gender voters in 2018.</p>.<p>After the 2018 polls, JD(S) and Congress formed a coalition government with H D Kumaraswamy as the Chief Minister.</p>.<p>However, the coalition government collapsed in 2019 following resignations of 13 rebel Congress and JD(S) MLAs.
