<p>Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement on setting up a committee for empowering 'Madigas' is not aimed at the upcoming assembly polls, but reflects the NDA government’s commitment to categorisation of Scheduled Castes, Telangana BJP chief Kishan Reddy said on Monday.</p>.<p> Speaking to reporters here, Reddy, who is also Union Minister for Tourism, alleged that the previous Congress government never worked on the issue and had put in cold storage the Justice Usha Mehra commission’s report on SC categorisation.</p>.PM Modi to address public meetings in Rajasthan's Barmer, Bharatpur, Nagaur.<p> “The NDA government under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi is not only committed to SC categorisation, but also it is our responsibility to implement it...PM Modi’s announcement is not for votes. But the committee will expedite the process of implementation of the categorisation,” Reddy said.</p>.<p> Modi on November 11 said the Centre would soon form a committee and adopt all possible ways for empowering Madigas (an SC community) with regard to their demand for categorisation of Scheduled Castes.</p>.<p> He was speaking at a rally organised here by the Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS), a community organisation of Madigas, one of the biggest constituents of Scheduled Castes in the Telugu states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.</p>.<p> The BJP leader said at present the issue is in the Supreme Court.</p>.<p> Reddy alleged that the BRS government has also neglected the issue.</p>.<p> According to Reddy, the Telangana BJP may release its manifesto for the upcoming assembly polls on November 16 or 17.</p>.<p> He further said the party’s national president JP Nadda is expected to release it.
