Actor Joy Mukherjee passes away at 73

Veteran actor and chocolate boy of Hindi cinema in the sixties Joy Mukherjee passed away on Friday morning at a city hospital following pulmonary complications. He was 73.

The actor survived by wife Neelam, two sons and a daughter, had given a string of musical hits like “Love in Simla”, “Love in Tokyo”, “Ziddi”, “Shagird”, “Ek Musafir Ek Hasina” and “Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon”.

The actor, who retired from arc lights in the eighties, was admitted to Leelavati Hospital on Monday with severe complications and was put on ventilator. He was suffering from various ailments for quite sometime.

The actor made his debut with “Love in Simla”, later he even directed movies like “Love in Bombay”, “Chhaila Babu”, “Saanjh ki Bela” and “Umeed”. His last screen appearance was on a television show titled “Aye Dil-e-Nadan”.
