<p>Dalip Singh Rana, popularly known by his ring name 'Khali', is still on Punjab police pay rolls and is on a five year leave.<br /><br />"Khali is still employed with the Punjab police and is on 'leave without pay' for the time being," Inspector General Gurudev Singh Sahota of Punjab Armed police to PTI.<br /><br />"Khali has been granted leave for five years in compliance with the Punjab government and will be posted once he comes back."<br /><br />According to government rules if an employee wants to go on leave for 'self employment' he is granted permission on that basis.<br /><br />Sahota further added that many employees in the past has availed leave on that basis and can only join service after completing five years.<br /><br />Khali, who stands tall at 7 feet 3 inches hails from Himachal Pradesh and has been specially recruited in the Punjab police.<br /><br />"I have heard a lot about him but have not got the chance to watch him on TV. But we distributed sweets when he won over wrestler Undertaker," said Sahota on being asked if he has watched Khali in 'Big Boss'.</p>
