There is a runaway bride, two warring brothers who haven’t visited a barber for years, a bling-bling saas-bahu pair who beats all the jewellery ads hands (and bangles) down, and a lot of sidekicks competing in the toilet joke category. Anees Bazmee also has a story which may escape even a magnifying glass. So, does that make Ready a tragedy?

Ladies and gentlemen, presenting, Salman Khan — all biceps and nonsense, but making the movie, in all its glorious absurdity, quite entertaining for his fans. Mad, bad and mean (and horny for the most part), the laadla of the house gets cracking the moment he sets sights on Asin (good act, bad make-up). She is on the run after her mamajis fix her marriage with one of their goon-sons.

Why worry when Sallu is by her side, sending villains into coma and outer space? When he is not deploying his fists and feet, Salman finds time to “hang around” with his girl from treetops. There is no hint of a plot, but the lovebirds are never in short supply of one-liners.

While the movie goes the snail way in the first half, it gains pace after the “pee-break” (Khan’s lingo for interval). The entire movie is built on mistaken identities and Salman enjoys playing all of them poker-faced. And yes, he ditches the shirt again.
Ready celebrates Salman unreservedly. Strictly for fans.
