Kollywood is currently abuzz with news related to the upcoming movie, Billa II. Featuring Ajith Kumar in the lead role, this film follows the actor’s superhit from last year, Mankatha.

Billa II, unlike what the title suggests, is actually a prequel to Billa, a 2007 remake (of a 1980s Rajnikanth film of the same name), which also had Ajith in the lead. Helmed by Chakri Toleti, Billa II marks the entry of In Entertainment, an arm of corporate giant Hinduja Group, into Kollywood.

Billa II has two leading ladies —  Parvathy Omanakuttan and Brazilian actress Brunah Abdulla. Both of them are all praise for the film, especially of Ajith.

“Working for the first time in a Tamil film, that too with Ajith, was a great experience. He was very co-operative. He helped me a lot in dialogue pronunciation and other things,” says Parvathy, a beauty queen-turned-actress.

Bruna says, “I am totally new to these parts. But Ajith and other members of the crew
made me feel at home. I learnt that Ajith is a top star here. But he is so down to earth. His helping nature impressed me a lot. And I must say, director Chakri Toleti has shaped up Billa II as an edge-of-the-seat, racy entertainer.”

Billa II has been shot over 103 days across Hyderabad, Vishakapatnam, Goa, Mumbai, Kashid and Georgia. “The producers have left no stone unturned in ensuring that the film received all the support it required to accomplish the final product,” says Chakri, the director.

“Jaika Stunts of Thailand was roped in for hand-to-hand stunts while Action Concept, the Germany-based specialist company in the field of action was roped in for Georgia-based stunt scenes,” he adds.

Action Concept provided the stunt-direction support for Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Don 2. The music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja, who is said to have worked with foreign musicians for this film. All these things have ensured that Billa II is the costliest Ajith-film ever made.
The film is getting ready to simultaneously hit the screens in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, North India and international markets. “The film will release as David Billa — The Beginning in Andhra Pradesh as a Telugu-dubbed version, the Tamil version will be released in Kerala, and both Tamil and Telugu-dubbed versions will be released in Karnataka. As far as the international and North India releases are concerned, the films shall be English-subtitled prints, which will help in gathering a wider audience and increasing the exposure of Tamil films,” Sunil Kheterpal, CEO of In Entertainment adds.

The publicity designs and posters released so far have helped create tremendous intrigue and excitement around the film. This, along with the fact that it is an Ajith Kumar film and the fact that it belongs to the super successful and popular Billa franchise, has helped generate more than a million hits for the minute-long teaser of the film on YouTube.

This highlights the immense craze, following and support that fans of Ajith Kumar are ready to offer. They will only have to wait for the IPL season to get over, to watch their thala on screen.
