Ahead of the mega-round of municipal polls in Maharashtra, veteran actor Asawari Joshi - famous for her role in the TV serial Office Office - on Thursday joined the Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party.

Asawari had joined Congress on 8 February, 2019, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

However, she had said goodbye to Congress and moved on to join the NCP in presence of deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar.

Besides her, actor Swagata Shah also joined the NCP.

Asawari (56) is known for her role in the hugely-popular Hindi TV series Office Office. She has acted in Om Shanti Om.

Asawari is the long list of celebrities like Dr Amol Kolhe, MP, Surekha Punekar, Savita Malpekar, Priya Berde, Vijay Patkar, Vaishali Made, among others, to have joined the NCP.

The new entrants were welcomed by NCP general secretary Shivajirao Garje, MLA Sunil Shelke, chief spokesperson Mahesh Tapase, state spokesperson Umesh Patil, the NCP Film & Culture Department president Babasaheb Patil, and others.
